Nikon has released a red dot optic sight called the P-Tactical Spur, and my first impression is that it looks awesome!

Nikon has already made quite a name for themselves in the optics market. They’re known for making quality optics for an affordable price. However, the P-Tactical Spur is their first reflex sight offering.

Shooters have always had the problem of how to choose an optic. Top of the line optics are ridiculously expensive and budget optics aren’t exactly that helpful when it comes to performance.

Hunters and target shooters will love Nikon’s new red dot sight because it’s right in the middle ground. It has the quality and performance you want out of a sight without the crazy price tag that comes with high end optics.

The P-Tactical Spur is designed for close range and medium range use. It can also attach to any rifle, pistol, or shotgun with a Picatinny rail.

The P-Tactical Spur uses a battery, but it has a surprisingly long lifespan. According to Nikon, the battery they use can power the red dot sight for 15,000 hours…which is like using it nonstop 24/7 for 625 days straight.

If their claims about the battery life are true, then you should never have to replace the battery.

Nikon’s red dot sight is also lightweight and about as small as it can be. It’s just over one inch in length so it doesn’t get in the way like some clunkier optics sometimes do.

You don’t have to worry about whether you’ll be able to see clearly or not, either. The P-Tactical Spur has 10 intensity settings so you can adjust it to suit your environment. Plus, two of the intensity settings are night vision compatible.

Nikon has also built their new red dot sight to be rugged and durable. It has an ingress protection rating of IPX7, which means it’s waterproof up to a certain point. Specifically, IPX7 means that it can be submerged under water less than one meter deep for less than 30 minutes and it will be fine.

What this means for shooters is that you don’t have to be as concerned about getting it wet or dirty while using it since it’s built tough.

The P-Tactical Spur also features Nikon’s proprietary “TRUCOLOR” lens coating which minimizes the bluish tint that other red dot optics have. The result is that it’s easier to get a clear view and stay focused once you’ve found your target.

You can buy this optic for a price of $219.95 either from a retailer near you or directly from Nikon’s store.
